To be clear I grew up in Perth following Aust rules football so I have no interest in rugby (union or league) which are vastly inferior games.
What like games that have taken off on a world global stage... where as Aussie Rules... is well... just a load od blokes running around in tight vests and tight shorts?? No wonder you like and all the rest of those benders down under embrace it...

To be clear I grew up in Perth following Aust rules football so I have no interest in rugby (union or league) which are vastly inferior games.
I wanted Declan Rice to win the Euros and I follow international football.
To be honest unless D Rice is in the team as a West Ham player I would prefer Bobby Moore to be the only England captain to have won something

Glory hunting?
This will be Australia's 6th World Cup finals appearance since they first attempted to qualify in 1966 (not a FIFA member previously)
In those appearances they have won 2 of 16 matches
I was once accused of supporting Australia at cricket because they win all the time (not true)
Still waiting for the response when I pointed out when I started following cricket as a child England held the Ashes.
And did so for 14 of the first 18 years I was supporting Australia
Given I also support West Ham I dont think glory hunter is a particularly APPOSITE tag

On a tangent, I've posted before about a boat built by the Thames Iron Workers that is still sailing on Lake Titicaca - the Yavari - interesting story. The engineers who came over to assemble the boats on the lake may well have introduced football to the locals. Equally, rugby and cricket were introduced by expats to Peru. Last time I was in the Lima Cricket Club, it was like a throwback to 50s Britain - pictures of a young Queen and Winston on the walls and pink gin all round.

Quick google, it seems both Peru and Columbia have both Creicket and rugby teams.
Possibly shit ones. But ones on the international circuit none the less the Peru football crowd are always very aesthetically pleasing it must be said …..

Unfortunately international sport is often unfair and some countries have more resources than others.
Missing out on the World Cup on a penalty shootout is obviously very disappointing but you are not saying Australia should have kicked their pens over the bar because they play cricket and rugby and the poor Peruvians have nothing else? Are you?
If we talking about rewarding 'passion' perhaps England should give up their spot to the Hungarians?
Euro finalists and last night the only people left for the last 10 mins were booing the team and manager.
On a day England won a Test match.

Peru loves it’s football and the game offers a bit of hope and happiness to a poor nation in this case.
Australia doesn’t really like football as much as other sports and it’s a wasted qualification compared to other nations who love the sport.

Oceania is a bit of a joke confederation .... 8 countries , NZ plus 7 tropical islands competing for 0.5 of a spot ie a playoff v a N American country
It should be rolled up into Asia where Australia are .... geographically and in football level
46 countries competing for 4.5 spots .... 4 direct and a playoff with the 5th team from S America
S America have 4.5 spots from 10 countries
Some people seem to think that some countries should have ZERO qualification spots for the WORLD CUP
